NEW CUMBERLAND – Sen. Dawn Keefer (R-31) will host a School Property Tax Elimination Town Hall on Monday, Sept. 14, from 6-8 p.m., at the West Shore Theatre, 317 Bridge St., New Cumberland, to discuss her proposal to eliminate school property taxes and establish a fairer, more stable funding model for Pennsylvania’s public schools.
Keefer will be joined by special guest Rep. Wendy Fink (R-94), who has introduced similar legislation in the House of Representatives.
The town hall will provide residents with an opportunity to learn how public schools are funded, and provide details about the School Property Tax Elimination Act and how this legislation would work to replace school property taxes. Residents will also have an opportunity to ask questions and share their concerns about rising property taxes.
“School property taxes place a significant burden on Pennsylvania homeowners, particularly seniors, families and those living on fixed incomes,” said Keefer. “My legislation would eliminate this burden while creating a sustainable approach to funding our schools.”
