Keefer Votes No on State Budget, Citing Unsustainable Spending and Lack of Long-Term Fiscal Reform
Sen. Dawn Keefer (R-31) voted against the 2026-27 Pennsylvania state budget, saying that while the final spending plan is an improvement over Gov. Josh Shapiro’s irresponsible $53.3 billion proposed budget, it continues a pattern of spending beyond the commonwealth’s projected revenues and fails to address Pennsylvania’s growing structural deficit. 𝐈 𝐯𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐍𝐎 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔-𝟐𝟕 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐭. While it rejects broad-based tax increases and protects the Rainy Day Fund, it still spends beyond our means and relies on one-time fixes instead of lasting fiscal reform. PA families balance their budgets — state government should too.
A responsible budget doesn`t spend more than it makes. Pennsylvanians deserve better.
The U.S. Supreme Court has affirmed that states may protect fairness in women’s sports.
Pennsylvania’s Senate has already passed Senate Bill 9 and Senate Bill 1293 to protect female athletes by preserving women’s sports for biological females. Now it’s time for the Pennsylvania House to bring these bills up for a vote. You can learn more about these bills by visiting the link in my bio.
I recently joined The Gary Sutton Show on the radio to discuss Pennsylvania’s proposed Digital Advertising Tax.
While supporters say the tax targets large companies like Google and Amazon, those costs will ultimately be passed on to consumers and businesses. Pennsylvania doesn’t need new taxes — it needs responsible spending.
