During Senate session this week, I voted "NO" on the statewide cellphone ban in schools (Senate Bill 1014). While I agree, cell phones are a huge distraction in school and they should be limited, I couldn’t support the final bill because it usurped local control and mandated duplicative public meetings. I offered two changes to the bill that would have addressed my concerns but they were rejected.
Watch my comments on the two amendments I proposed at the links in my bio.
It was truly my honor to recognize Chief William H. Sleeger Jr. on his well-earned retirement after 33 years with the City of York Department of Fire/Rescue Services. His career was marked by tireless dedication to keeping our community safe and serving with integrity. Wishing him all the best in this next chapter! 🚒👏
Today is Girls and Women in Sports Day, a reminder of how far women’s athletics have come and why fairness in competition must be protected. Every girl deserves the opportunity to compete, succeed and thrive on a level playing field. That’s why I co-sponsored the Save Women’s Sports Act, Senate Bill 9, to stand up for female athletes and defend Title IX.
Watch my interview with advocate Paula Scanlan to see what’s at stake.
Since taking office, every Gov. Shapiro budget has proposed spending far beyond state revenues — and his 2026–27 plan is no exception. It’s Budget Groundhog Day in Pennsylvania: unchecked spending, ballooning deficits and no plan to live within our means. This fiscally tone-deaf proposal ignores economic realities as our state grows older and smaller, setting taxpayers up for inflation and tax hikes. This budget belongs in hibernation.

It’s Groundhog Day! 🐾 Tomorrow, Gov. Shapiro unveils his 2026-27 PA budget proposal. Will it finally live within PA’s means or are we staring down another $5B overspend and the same fiscal irresponsibility déjà vu? 😬💸
Hint: the budget shadow looks expensive.
