In this Update:
Honoring the Legacy of D-Day
June 6 marks the anniversary of D-Day, when Allied forces launched the largest amphibious invasion in history on the beaches of Normandy, France, during World War II. The operation marked a pivotal turning point in the war and began the liberation of Western Europe from Nazi occupation. More than 150,000 Allied troops took part in the invasion, displaying extraordinary courage in the face of incredible danger. As we reflect on the legacy of D-Day, we remember the words of Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower, supreme commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force, who told the troops before the invasion: “The eyes of the world are upon you.” Eighty-two years later, we continue to honor the bravery, service and sacrifice of the Greatest Generation and all those who fought to defend freedom. Big 33 Football Classic Showcases Talent and Tradition
I was pleased to attend the 69th Big 33 Football Classic on May 24 in Mechanicsburg, where Maryland earned a double-overtime victory over Pennsylvania in a very exciting game. The Big 33 Football Classic is much more than an all-star football game. For nearly seven decades, it has celebrated outstanding student-athletes, coaches and buddies while highlighting the values of teamwork, perseverance and sportsmanship. Congratulations to every athlete, coach and buddy who participated and represented their school, community and state with excellence, making this longstanding tradition another memorable success. Pennsylvania State Wrestling Day of Champions
The Pennsylvania State Wrestling Day of Champions was held at the state Capitol, where student-athletes from across the commonwealth were recognized for earning PIAA state titles. I was proud to present PA Senate Citations to two athletes from my district for their outstanding accomplishments on the mat: Camden Baum of Bishop McDevitt and Kavin Muyleart of Cedar Cliff. Baum captured the AA PIAA state championship in the 139-pound weight class. His wrestling career has been marked by consistent excellence, including three sectional, district and regional championships, along with two state runner-up finishes before earning the state title this season. Muyleart earned the AAA 127-pound PIAA title after finishing as the 2025 state runner-up. He concludes his high school career with an impressive 81-13 record. Their achievements reflect years of discipline, dedication and perseverance, as well as the unwavering support of their families, coaches and schools. Congratulations to both athletes for representing their communities with pride at the highest level of competition. School Property Tax Elimination Town Hall Draws Strong Community Engagement
Thank you to everyone who attended the School Property Tax Elimination Town Hall on May 27 at Elizabethtown Area High School. More than 200 residents attended, reflecting strong interest in school property tax reform. The discussion featured a robust question-and-answer session, with so much engagement that the event ran 30 minutes beyond its scheduled end time. For those unable to attend a town hall to learn more about my proposal to eliminate school property taxes, please listen to my recent discussion on The Conservative Radio Show for additional details. Midwifery Modernization Law Supports Mothers and Babies
A new law we passed will help ensure women and families have access to safe, high-quality care throughout pregnancy and postpartum recovery by modernizing Pennsylvania’s laws governing midwives. Senate Bill 507, now Act 14 of 2026, updates licensure requirements for certified midwives, improves collaboration with physicians and expands prescription authority in certain circumstances. The law also addresses healthcare shortages in rural and underserved communities by expanding the number of trained professionals available to provide maternal care services. Read more about our work to expand this care for mothers and babies here. Improving Stream Maintenance, Reducing Flood Hazards
Legislation to give counties and municipalities more flexibility in handling flood-related hazards and obstructions was passed by the Senate in March and now awaits action in the House of Representatives. Currently, entering streams to remove obstructions requires a permit from the state Department of Environmental Protection, a process that is lengthy, tedious and inefficient. Senate Bill 403 would allow local government organizations to apply for an extended permit, allowing maintenance to continue for 10 years or more. Senate Bill 404 would allow counties to obtain emergency maintenance permits in consultation with their county conservation district. Read more about how these bills will help protect against flooding here. Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program Kicks Off in June
