Upcoming Town Halls: Let’s Talk Property Tax Elimination

Are you tired of rising property taxes? You’re not alone and we’re doing something about it.

I’m teaming up with Rep. Wendy Fink and others across Pennsylvania to host a series of Property Tax Elimination Town Halls. These events are your chance to learn about our legislation to eliminate property taxes and to share your thoughts directly with us.

We’re kicking things off in my senatorial district with Rep. Mark Anderson and former Rep. Frank Ryan on:

Monday, August 11
Time: 6:30 – 8 p.m.
Location: Monaghan Township Firehall (245 W. Siddonsburg Road, Dillsburg)
RSVP: Click here

The Property Tax Elimination Act that we are introducing is a bold and necessary step to finally end property taxes in Pennsylvania and give homeowners lasting relief. During the town halls, we’ll walk through the details of the plan, answer your questions and listen to your feedback.

If you can’t make it on August 11, we’ll also be visiting other communities across the commonwealth:

  • August 20, 2 p.m. – Beech Mountain Lakes, 1 Burke Drive, Drums
  • August 20, 6 p.m. – Sweet Valley Church of Christ, 5439 Main Road, Sweet Valley
  • September 15, 7 p.m. – 960 Plaza Drive, Montoursville
  • October 14, 10 a.m. – Hazle Township Commons Building, 101 W 27th Street, Hazle Township

Let’s talk about real solutions for real people and how we can finally eliminate property taxes for good.

Mark your calendar, bring your questions and join the conversation. I hope to see you there!

Fighting for Transparent Healthcare Costs

I recently joined the Pennsylvania Health Access Network and Rep. Tarik Khan for a virtual press conference to release a new report exposing a troubling trend: many Pennsylvania hospitals are still failing to comply with federal hospital price transparency requirements. This lack of compliance makes it difficult, if not impossible, for patients to understand the true cost of their care before receiving it.

Too many Pennsylvanians are blindsided by unexpected medical bills and that is simply unacceptable.

That is why I introduced Senate Bill 752, legislation that empowers patients with the clear pricing information they deserve. This bill would help individuals make informed decisions about their care, prevent surprise medical bills, and encourage greater transparency and competition in the healthcare system.

I will continue pushing for reforms like Senate Bill 752 because every Pennsylvanian deserves to know the cost of their care upfront. No more confusion. No more surprises. Just transparency and accountability in our healthcare system.

Visiting a Local Pregnancy Resource Center with 40 Years of Impact

I had the opportunity to tour Human Life Services, a local pregnancy resource center that has been serving families in our district for over 40 years. This organization provides critical, no-cost services including maternal and prenatal care, ultrasounds, STI testing, educational resources and emotional support, all without relying on taxpayer dollars.

Their compassionate approach ensures women and families have access to the care and information they need during some of life’s most important moments.

Thank you to the dedicated staff and volunteers at Human Life Services for sharing about the vital work you do every day to support women, children and families in our community.

Mechanicsburg Fire Department Advancing Public Safety with New Facility

It was a pleasure meeting with the Mechanicsburg Fire Department and the dedicated individuals who work hard every day to protect our community. During my visit, they provided an update on the progress of their new fire station currently under construction.

This state-of-the-art facility will centralize operations, improve emergency response times and support efforts to recruit and retain volunteer firefighters. It is a major investment in public safety and a big step forward for the residents of Mechanicsburg and surrounding areas.

Thank you to the Mechanicsburg Fire Department for your continued service and for taking the time to share with me about the changes coming to better serve our community.

Senate Acts to Provide Funding for Local Bridge Projects

The Senate recently approved legislation to provide state funding for local bridge projects, giving counties the flexibility needed to make essential repairs to municipal bridges.

Currently, state Motor License Fund dollars can be used to build and repair county bridges. However, spending guidance fails to address if funding can be used for municipal bridges located within a county.

As a result, municipal bridges often go without repair while bridge funding goes unused due to ambiguous guidance. Senate Bill 205 would give counties the flexibility they need to fund local bridge projects. The bill was sent to the House of Representatives for consideration.

Sunday Hunting Days Set for 2025

The new Sunday hunting days for 2025 have been set by the Pennsylvania Game Commission.

Beginning Sept. 14, and through the second Sunday in firearms deer season Dec. 7, all Sundays that fall within established hunting seasons will be included as part of those seasons and open to hunting.

Migratory game bird seasons are the lone exception. No Sundays will be added to the 2025-26 migratory game bird seasons because those seasons are set through federal frameworks and adding any Sundays at this time would result in a loss of hunting days in 2025-26. You can find more details here.

PennDOT Roadwork Schedules for Cumberland and York Counties

To help you stay informed and plan your travels, I will be sharing weekly updates on PennDOT’s roadwork schedules for Cumberland and York counties. This information comes directly from PennDOT but may not include every roadwork project or be completely accurate. Updates will be posted every Friday as long as PennDOT provides the information. There may be weeks when no new details are shared. I hope these updates help you avoid delays and make your travel easier.
