Upcoming Concealed Carry Seminar on May 10

Please join Rep. Seth Grove and me at our Concealed Carry Seminar on Saturday, May 10, from 9 a.m. to noon at the West Manchester Township Farmers and Sportsmen Association, located at 4900 Pine Hill Road, Dover.

This informative seminar is designed to help gun owners better understand their rights under Pennsylvania law, with a particular focus on concealed carry regulations and Second Amendment protections.

The event will feature attorney Seth Springer, who will provide an in-depth overview of Pennsylvania’s concealed carry laws. In addition, local law enforcement officers will offer practical insights into firearms regulations and address questions from participants.

This is a great opportunity for anyone who currently owns a firearm or is considering obtaining a concealed carry permit to become better informed about their legal rights and responsibilities.

Space is limited and registration is required. If you’d like to attend, please RSVP as soon as possible by calling my office at 717-432-1730, Rep. Grove’s office at 717-767-3947, or by visiting SenatorKeefer.com or RepGrove.com.

The Results Are In — PA Wants Less Spending, More Fiscal Restraint

I want to extend my sincere thanks to everyone who took the time to participate in my recent PA Budget Survey. Your input is invaluable and I greatly appreciate the thoughtful perspectives and comments we received.

One of the most striking results from the survey was the number of responses calling for even greater reductions in state spending than I proposed. While Gov. Josh Shapiro has put forth a $51.5 billion budget, I recommended holding the PA Budget line at a fiscally responsible alternative of $47.9 billion. Many of you voiced support for going even further in reducing expenditures, highlighting the shared concern among taxpayers about the sustainability and accountability of state spending.

This strong feedback solidifies my commitment to advocate for a budget that respects hardworking Pennsylvanians and their tax dollars. Together, we can promote a state government that lives within its means while still delivering essential services.

Celebrating the Groundbreaking of Northside Commons Expansion at York College

It was an exciting day at York College of Pennsylvania as we gathered to celebrate the groundbreaking ceremony for the Northside Commons expansion. This project represents a strong commitment to enhancing student life and investing in the future of both the campus and community.

The expansion will add modern living spaces and amenities to support students and strengthen the vibrancy of the surrounding neighborhood. I’m grateful to be part of this milestone in York College’s continued growth.

Stocking Trout with the PA Fish and Boat Commission

Last week, I joined the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission to stock hatchery-raised trout into our local streams. Each year, dedicated volunteers help release more than 3 million trout across the Commonwealth — ensuring great fishing opportunities for everyone.

If you would like to get involved and volunteer, check out the trout stocking schedule here.

Senate Passes Bill Reforming Nomination Process for Agency Heads

To restore balance and transparency in state government, the Senate passed a bill reining in the use of unconfirmed state agency leaders. Senate Bill 472 advanced to the House of Representatives for consideration.

Former Gov. Tom Wolf appointed 11 individuals to lead various state agencies in the “acting” capacity and never nominated them to the Senate as part of the official confirmation process. Additionally, 21 cabinet officials served in “acting” capacity longer than 90 days. This allowed key decisions to be made without public scrutiny.

With the passage of the bill, an individual serving in a leadership role without official confirmation by the Senate would be designated as “Deputy Head of Department.” The designation could be used once during a governor’s term. These individuals would have to appear before the General Assembly during the annual budget process. They would not receive elevated compensation or additional benefits beyond their peers. Most importantly, they would not be allowed to remain indefinitely without Senate review and would not be permitted to serve longer than 90 days.
